~Timmins 2020The largest military aircraft in Canada, the Boeing C177 Globemaster III, was flying over the city mid-afternoon on its way to the Timmins Victor M. Power Airport. The huge plane, also known as a C17, was doing a practice landing approach according to airport manager Dave Dayment. Several of the aircraft are based with RCAF 429 Squadron at CFB Trenton / 8 Wing. The heavy lift aircraft were purchased by Canada during the Afghanistan War. The planes can fly anywhere in Canada and land on runways as short as 3,000 feet.
