I know there have been a couple accidents in South Porcupine today. Not sure if ALL the sirens are related to that.

Most recent :

It looks like we have another report of an accident, this time near the YMCA in South End with traffic being diverted heading into Timmins just before the OPP station.

Police: Hwy 101 E closed btwn Bruce "Y" and OPP stn due to MVC occurred at approximately 12:20 pm involving pedestrian. One person taken to hospital

No...it's folks from Timmins who are lost. Some only go to SoPo like once every few years since they feel it is sooooooo far away from Timmins.

KiSS newsroom reporter Shannon is at Canadian Tire and Home Depot where the Emergency Response Team and police officers are surrounding both buildings and around the outskirts and the forest behind.

No word on what is happening.

At approx 4:30 am, police responded to a break & enter call at Canadian Tire. TPS Emergency Response Team on scene at Canadian Tire. Police believe an armed individual is contained inside the building. Police have evacuated Home Depot and Canadian Tire. Corporate Communications Coordinator on scene - will speak to media shortly. Hwy 101 W is open to traffic at this time.

Update on ongoing situation: OPP are actively involved in incident and have deployed resources to the scene. Perimeter has expanded for public safety reasons. Hwy 101 W closed at Government Road and at Jaguar Rd. Detour via Shirley St/Jaguar Rd. Anyone having any information is asked to call the Timmins Police Service at 264-1201. Anyone seeing anything suspicious is asked to call 911.

Those two have been stopped in Sudbury, SSM and Manitoba. It's believed they are heading to B.C., according to the Toronto Police

Media is on twitter also reports Timmins Transit depot blocked off by Police. This is because a Garbage Truck knocked down a hydro line.

The South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has been called to assist the Timmins Police Service with a break and enter that occurred on June 17, 2015 at 4:20 a.m. at the Canadian Tire store located on Riverside Drive in Timmins.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, the Timmins Police Service Emergency Response Team (ERT) the Timmins Police Service Criminal Investigations Division (CID), the North East Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), the North East Region OPP Canine Unit, OPP Aviation Services, the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and uniformed officers are all on scene conducting the investigation.

The perimeter around the scene has been expanded for public safety reasons.

The public may access Timmins by the following routes. Highway 101 west has been closed at Shirley Street and a detour has been set up at that location.

For motorists traveling east on Highway 101 west, a detour has been set up at Jaguar Road and Sandy Falls Road.

This is an ongoing investigation.

The OPP and the Timmins Police Service are committed to public safety and are asking everyone to stay away from the area.

Anyone seeing any suspicious activity or who has information concerning this case is advised to call 911 immediately.
