Anyone know a good family law lawyer?

#1

Post by stfuap » Tue Nov 18, 2014 4:46 pm

Going through separation, used mediator for the past month (free!) and everything was fine. Finished the process, done deal. Gotta say pretty fair process. Then just needed to get agreement drawn up by lawyer (spouse's lawyer was going to do it, all I needed was ILA and then sign and done.) Then of course after spouse's first trip to the lawyers everything turns to total sh!t, now getting raped [mad
The only thing I heard so far was Doucet, I know he can be a douche but I was told he was good at preventing or at least easing up the rape...
Anyone have recommendations?

Do you need someone in regards to child custody or just divorce?

It would be for both...

Tell me about it... Of course it seems most family law lawyers in town are women. I did talk to Sabourin, but he's expensive as hell plus he didn't want anything to do with me since we were going the mediator route. (he actually told me he didn't want to be a liability since the guy usually gets screwed) I can try Donna... Anyone else?

If you are on a "budget" choose a lawyer who charges by the case , and not by the hour. Trust me. It will get very expensive very fast!
By the hour I would recommend Lynn Cayen. She is a 'bulldog' and will get you what deserve. But you will pay. (not as much as doucet though!!)
By the case I would recommend Lisa Barrazzuti.

If you want more information 'pm me.

STFUAP......

I will PM you some info tomorrw afternoon. A lady represented my friend, she was so angry with how the system sticks it to the man, she charged him $500 and it was dealt with like he had paid full price. For everything this crooked wife wiped from accounts, lines of credits and RRSP's, in the end she owed him money and it came off her share of his pension is all, no support payments. Late afternoon I should have name and number for you. Good Luck!

Kim Cogar is her lawyer, everyone keeps saying she's the "most fair" around, unfortunately every time the wife talks to her everything changes...
Honestly I don't want to have anyone screwed over which is why we went mediator in the first place, but the longer it goes one the worse it gets...
HEATHER! looking forward to hearing from you...

Hey STU!

He must be on graveyards, but will get you the name/info ASAP......

Heather :-)

Some people make me so angry! I am responsible for my sitter and arrangments, I pay my house and truck. Gave him my car and all toys. All mutual. I pay my heat, hydro every month from ex's account and buy groceries. He kept me on benefits, I dont ask for anything, I buy all ski pants, dance outfits, etc. When stuck for something, he steps up. I never take more than what I think is fair, he needs to live as well. I however am guilty for taking 40-60$ cashback at no frills from time to time lol, hey, mama needs coffee money lol!

The government needs to look at thier rules, I mean why rape a man because he works at a high paying job? A friend receives 2480$ a month is support for 2 kids, thats crazy, plus full government bonuses! how can this man move on with his life giving all his income away! It does not take that much to feed, clothe, and house! I would not be a good lawyer lol, just so sickening how the systems work! Grrr!

Thanks heather...

My new rule #1, never hook up with someone unless they make close to the same money. In a way I think that's horrible to say BUT...

Thanks RN. I'm no longer a mod but still get the moderation emails and see posts that aren't approved yet but can't do anything with them. [shrug
