This coming winter will not be nearly as cold as last winter thanks in part to El Niño.
This should lead to a noticeable difference in heating bills compared to last year.
Unfortunately, the winter pattern will also favor an increased risk of ice storms, especially from eastern Ontario to southern Quebec, including the cities of Ottawa and Montreal.

Will it be a green Christmas? We've only had one in Timmins and that was in 2006.

I believe it snowed Christmas morning at 7AM, so technically it was a white Christmas, IIRC.

Just checked...

1 cm on the ground that day.

Environment Canada...I mean Environment and Climate Change Canada has a definition of a "White Christmas" as one with at least 2cm of snow on the ground. Seriously, LOL.

So we weren't 100% snow-free but it was pretty close. I took photos and am now looking at them.

I remember that. I certainly had green sections of my lawn.

Also we are looking at at least another weeks of double digits temperatures next week.
Will be green until the end of November for sure.

Where? The warmest temps I see for Timmins is two days of 10C next week. That's at The Weather Network.
