Workers still on the line, not stopping Santa's visit

Ontario Northland Transportation Commission employees continue to walk the line as the lockout continues. But, in the spirit of Christmas local Union Unifor rep Darin Axcell said that they would not be stopping the Santa Express that is scheduled to be in Cochrane on Dec. 8.

Despite the failure to get anything new tabled, as of press time, between the ONTC and the union, Axcell is hopeful that some sort of an agreement could be reached to allow the workers to get back on the job.

As for the Santa Express, Axcell said that “We live in a small community and we know everyone. The community has been overwhelmingly supportive and we will put this aside to allow families to enjoy the train.”

How did this get to be two separate threads? [confused

They are merged together now.

I hope ONTC is going to be as nice. Why You ask. Let me tell you. This is not a strike but a lockout. So ONTC really has the final say on if they allow the union members to drive the train, or if they decide to put management on it.
