nostalgia... London Cafe gravy

Post by Dblur57 » Wed Sep 04, 2013 9:38 pm

as a child and young adult, I would relish the veal with gravy served at the London Cafe..... the gravy is just not the same now or my taste buds have gone to sleep...lol. Just thinking that maybe the secret London Cafe gravy recipe has gone to heaven... ahhh the memories !!!

Not sure if it was the Bamboo or Dimples on Third Ave. that had the best shoestring fries with gravy that I ever eaten. Yum Yum !!! I see what you mean, the taste stays with you.

Have not had London Cafe in a while but yeah last time I had it the gravy was not the same. It's still good but not as good as before.

That was the place Kegan, Peacock Garden. I was trying to remember the name but couldn't for the life of me.

I have never had better fries and gravy than I got at the Peacock. Everytime I have gravy with my fries anywhere I hope the taste of that gravy will magically appear. Hasn't happened yet, dammmmmn.....

I remember the Peacock also. I was younger, but I remember the colorful peacock that was on the wall.

My grandfather would take me to the Peacock and the Esquire for lunch every week and Smitty's and Chez Paul on weekends for breakfast.

It has been closed for about 3 or 4 months. There is a sign on the door that due to a disaster, or renovations it is closed.
I'm just not sure if it has been completed yet.
