Timmins, ON - Based on recommendations from Autumnwood St. Mary’s Gardens and the Municipal
Accessibility Advisory Committee (MAAC), Council has voted to convert Pine Street North and Fifth Avenue
into a three-way stop intersection.

This has been proposed as a temporary measure until the installation of a permanent crossover – previously
voted on by Council.

New stop signs, complete with advance warnings and flashing red lights, are scheduled for installation
on Thursday, December 7. It has also been recommended that St. Mary’s Gardens install a stop sign and no
left turn sign exiting the private property. Until such time that a stop sign is in place at this location, motorists
are reminded that the Highway Traffic Act does stipulate that drivers must yield from a private drive.

Due to the configuration of this intersection, it is recommended that drivers refrain from making left-hand turns
from the private drive in order to reduce traffic congestion and keep with the goal of promoting public safety.

Drivers are asked to be cognizant of this new three-way stop intersection. Exercising caution and being aware
of any pedestrian traffic will assist with a safe transition for both drivers and pedestrians.
