I'm more concerned about who the next councillors will be. I'm not voting for any of the incumbents.

Glad I don't live in Ward 4 anymore....the choices... [die

Also, Donna Dorrington in Ward 3....isn't that Steve's wife? How would that work? [think

She would be a councillor and he would be mayor. End of story. As much as it seems bizarre, it was no more weird than Rob Ford being mayor and Doug being councillor.

Well yeah....

I guess I wasn't clear enough. Will she disagree with anything Steve brings forward?

Except in our case, they can't be forced to testify against each other.

Does Pirie have anything to try and better the city or is it all about the $$$$$$?

If not that's why Timmins will continue to be stuck in a time warp and suck as a place to live.

People have to remember where we are located. In the middle of the bush. Throwing money at grandiose pipe dreams to make this bush town something it's not meant to be is insane.

That's kind of true but if you have to have something for your citizens to do. I'm not saying build Timmins Wonderland but you can't run a community with zero activities or nothing for the people. Your community will die.

I can agree somewhat but, at what cost to our declining and aging tax base? You'd think that playing dodge ball with potholes and water main breaks would be entertainment enough.

The people running the show around here seem to forget that not everyone has a good paying job in a mine or two family incomes. Not being either of the latter, I'm frustrated by the totals of my property tax and water bills as it is.

Those arguments are bush league John.

If we keep telling ourselves that we live in a small town, and adopt a small town mentality, we will always remain a small town.

I'd rather see someone take risks and move this city forward.

Your civic pride sucks...

You'd feel the same about anywhere after you lived there for awhile.

I agree with Joe. Our municipal government has let so many things crumble. Success can't be expected if nothing is getting done. I hate to say this but our city will need to go into more debt whether we decide to cut spending or increase spending. The actual safest thing to do is take risks, as strange as it might sound. Doing nothing means we will sink for sure.

Beautiful new $$$$$$$$$$ pool surrounded by failing basic infrastructure will surely have people moving here daily.

Our city should be focusing on expanding Northern College and having a university established here. Look at how many international students have moved here lately and helping the local economy.

Where did that quote come from? Just wanting to make sure it is real.

Having worked for private businesses and for government, I agree that they aren't the same thing and are not similar. Government is much more complex and involves everybody unlike private businesses.
