Moving to Timmins

Post by mj_13 » Wed Jun 25, 2014 6:37 am

Hi everyone,

Moving to timmins in a couple of weeks for a job and thought I would say hi. Would love to know what its like up there as I am moving from Kingston area. Looking for a good apartment to live, good places to hang out. What are some cool things to do on your free time, and what community events could I get involved in? Thanks looking forward to my time here.

mj_13,

Great to see people moving to Timmins. There's lots to do in Timmins year round and great people. As for apartments, be careful, don't settle for the first thing you see.

Contact Quantum Property
Management Quantum Realty Services Ltd. - Welcome Home! for their availability.

Unless you find your dream place, keep it month-to-month so you can move if you find a better spot. Word of mouth is the best way to find a place, but obivously that's difficult if you're not from here.

Good luck.

Haha thanks for the replies. I am up here now company has put me in a hotel for the time being. I am looking into moving into an apartment owned by skyline management on suzzane street. Was really nice and seems like a good building. So far I have enjoyed my time here and looking forward to meeting new people.

We have a pretty decent trail system. If you can afford it, purchase a mountain bike and check them out. You can easily spend a day just riding the different trails.

Also, spend a weekend at Kettle Lakes Provincial Park. It's a beautiful area with several lakes and a few biking trails. The swimming is great. The fishing is ok as well.

When the snow falls, check out Ski Runners. To me, this has to be one of the best x-country ski clubs in the province. It's run by a group of volunteers. There are several KMs of groomed ski trails. The scenery is beautiful.

I hope you enjoy the outdoors because the possibilities are limitless. Enjoy all four seasons. The winters are long, so learn to deal with them and try to enjoy them.

The shopping and the social scene in Timmins aren't the greatest. However, you can still enjoy yourself if you're hanging around with the right people.

Like I said, if you've never been an outdoorsy person, start now. You will never be bored around here.

:)

Good tips Pearl.

I also recommend Ivanhoe Lake Provincial Park near Foleyet.
