oh wait, the city didn't spend thousands of dollars for someone down South to name the team so it might actually be a good name!

Oooo la la. Timmins' own Steve Sullivan—currently the Player Development Coach with the Arizona Coyotes—will be a Senior Advisor.

i had time to reflect on the name (Timmins Rock) and In my opinion it does not flow off the tongue, there seems to be something missing.

I tried different popular name association with the word "rock" and for a local "mining community" ROCK HOUNDS came to mind.

Definition of ROCK HOUND. 1 : a specialist in geology. : an amateur rock and mineral collector.
timmins rock hounds... what do you think ?

It could have been a lot worse, but it could have been a lot better. I agree, it doesn't flow off the tongue well.

Sounds like a radio station. Isn't Q92's slogan, "Timmins Best Rock"? Sounds like they will advertising each other the whole time.

it's because it doesn't finish with an H.... think of it like Orlando Magic, or Miami Heat. Most other pro team names end with an S..

Is there just one guy on the team? The Timmins Rock.

that is like Toronto being the Toronto Maple Leaf.
