Dailey’s YIG (Your Independent Grocer)
Veronique Albert of Smooth Rock Falls is glad she drove to Timmins Monday to pick up a few groceries. The grocery store in her town was closed because of a fire in September. On Monday, Albert was shopping at Dailey’s YIG (Your Independent Grocer) when that store took part in a unique customer appreciation event. Precisely at 5:00 p.m. Monday, YIG owner/manager Darlene Dailey announced that everyone waiting in line or at the cash would be getting free groceries. Dailey said the Timmins YIG store was one of a handful of stores selected to take part in a province-wide promotion. A few dozen customers were pleased to find out their grocery orders were completely free.

Sorry but giving freebies to those who need it is more commendable IMO. Nice ploy to get people to shop there hoping for free stuff though.

I see your point but that's marketing and PR.

Exactly. It's no different than having customers fill in ballots to win a gift card for a few hundred bucks or so.
IMO of course.

Some how this seems different. Christmas is coming, food drives will begin, charity fundraising and whatnot. Their 'generosity' could have been put to much better use and this stunt doesn't impress me at all. Well, at least these winners got to save a couple of hundred bucks or so each that day and get to go to Tim Horton's more often.
