At approximately 1:30 a.m. the morning of April 4, 2018 police attended the scene of a motor
vehicle collision at Algonquin Blvd. and Avenue Road.
Investigation revealed that a vehicle travelling westbound on Algonquin Blvd. struck the guide
wire of a hydro pole, causing the vehicle to rollover, and come to rest on its roof. Fortunately,
the driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries as a result of the collision.
The collision resulted in downed wires and caused the closure of the westbound lanes of
Algonquin Blvd. for a period of time. The scene was cleared at approximately 4:00 a.m.
Contrary to reports in the media, the vehicle was not believed to be involved in the commission
of a crime. That information is false and was not obtained from the Timmins Police Service. No
charges are expected to be laid against the vehicle’s driver.
